Smash Bash II

I showed up early to set up my drums on Saturday, but not as early as I planned..

Because Friday night was an all nighter with Oscar, Jenny and Melissa. We watched a short marathon of Shameless and partied till the sun came up.

Didn't get to sleep at all that night and watched the sunrise, which was really beautiful by the way.

It's Coffee Time!

Me and Melissa have some coffee and I head over to Church at 8AM for the Ultimate Worship Adventure!... time to Fast Forward -->

So I Get To Smash Bash II and I Smell Barbecue!

Oh yeah!

But it ain't ready yet..

DAMNIT!!

So I figure, got nothin' to do now but tough it out until it's time to eat.

I set up my drums and give this little girl who is just about as tall as me, some quick drum lessons.

My blood sugar is way down by now and I can really feel the all nighter hitting me hard.

So I cop a squat next to our host and their peeps for some R&R and leisure conversation.

on right is Beau & Friends
By the time my Bass player Beau shows up the food is up and ready.

He grabs the first plate and I immediately follow suit, filling up my plate.

The moment has come to grind!!

Recklezz

We munch down the first round as the first band Recklezz plays for us.

They crank out some really cool sing along covers as we eat in pure pleasure.

BJ the sippy cup winner!

Sundowners

Next up is Sundowners who bust out an acoustic jam that rocks us out as we gorge on more of the barbecue, beer and fixins.

Strangely Awake!

The Mighty Strange

Now it's time for us to play and the good thing is that my sugar is up, but now I wanna crash out because of all that great food and stuff.

We crank out the set starting with "Dorner" and part way through with "City Lights" and end with the song I wrote "No Tomorrow".

Gypsy Rose

Tim Rodriguez
Holy Crap! by the time these guys take the stage I am fully pumped.. especially from jamming the set before.

Ron
Me and my homies [Ron "The Fish Guy"] and David are jammin' to these

tunes like we've heard them a thousand times before.

Especially when they played that cover "Breed" by Nirvana.. that shit fuckin' rocked! Why? Not only did they do a kick ass job of playing it. That song brought back some memories man!
David

I remember jammin' that song with my homie Bobby Ruiz and brother in-law Steve Schulz back in 1991. With a clothes hanger around my neck and duck taped microphone to it, while I ripped out the vocals and drums in the side room of Bobby's dad's garage in our early 20's.

Sorry to say though..

by the time the last band took the stage, I started passing out...

Dominic Torres
Damien & DominicTorres
Kenny Barcenas

Product of Mortality

These guys ROCK!

A fine blend of [what do you know] and hilarious feedback. This band will entertain you like no other!

My problem was that, I went to my truck to chill for a moment and found myself waking up to everyone leaving and breaking down.

Dean Jennings
Rob Dobson on Drums & Dave Ratliff

Either way you look at it..

Smash Bash II was a huge success and can't wait to do it again next year!
